BERLIN (AP) — Youth activists staged a coordinated “world local weather strike” Friday to focus on their fears in regards to the results of worldwide warming and demand extra support for poor nations hit by wild climate.
Protesters took to the streets of Jakarta, Tokyo and Berlin with banners and posters emblazoned with slogans equivalent to “We’re involved in regards to the local weather disaster” and “It isn’t too late.”
The demonstrations have been organized by the Fridays for Future youth motion which took its cue from activist Greta Thunberg, who started protesting alone outdoors the Swedish parliament in 2018.
