John Podesta will be part of Biden’s local weather crew as prime adviser Gina McCarthy departs

John Podesta is becoming a member of President Joe Biden’s crew as a senior adviser overseeing the implementation of $370 billion in clear power initiatives beneath the lately handed Inflation Discount Act, the White Home introduced Friday.

The announcement got here on the identical day that the Biden administration confirmed that its prime local weather adviser, Gina McCarthy, is leaving in two weeks. His deputy, Ali Zaidi, who works on local weather initiatives within the Obama White Home, will take over.

Podesta, who led former President Barack Obama’s local weather technique, will probably be tasked with offering tax credit for clear power merchandise like photo voltaic panels and electrical autos, and analysis and improvement in renewable power technology.
