Citing employees shortages, Tarrant County is shifting 432 inmates to a non-public jail close to Lubbock.

Tarrant County will transfer 432 inmates from its jail to a non-public jail in Garza County in 2023 on account of staffing shortages and deliberate upkeep.

Commissioners on Tuesday permitted Giles W. Accredited an $18 million contract with the Dolby Correctional Facility. Owned by Jail Administration and Coaching Corp., a Utah-based contractor that manages personal prisons.

Harris County is spending $25 million to send its 600 prisoners there.
